Global LTE smartphone shipments reached another record high in2014 Q1 and iPhone occupies 42%

According to the date collected by Counterpoint Research – a company focusing on technology market research: in the first quarter of this year, the shipments of LTE smartphone in the global market has reached all-time highs, climbed 91% compared with the same period of last year, accounting for more than a quarter of the smartphone shipments.

In terms of regional, the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and China are the largest LTE smartphone market. Among them, the LTE smartphone shipments in China has overtaken South Korea ranking third, analysis suggests that at the end of 2014, China will surpass Japan to become the LTE smartphone market only second to United States. U.S. possesses one-third of the global LTE smartphone market.

Apple, Samsung and LG their OEM swallowed a total of 78% of the market, Apple 42%, Samsung 29%, LG 7%. Developing market and the high demand of LTE smartphone contributes to Apple and Samsung’s perfect performance to preempt market with high-end smartphone and the kyocera, ZTE, Huawei, Sony and LG are the five yearly fastest-growing brands.
